The CSPDM Board of Directors was pleased to present this 90-minute webinar providing members with 1.5 continuing education credits.

Towards Excellence: A Federal Initiative in Return to Work and Disability Management September 14th, 2022

 Session highlights include:

  • DM Solutions Platform – bringing together CDMPs and CRTWCs from across Canada, the DM Solutions Platform will provide a networking system to get inspired and start connecting with one another.
  • Federal Initiative Grant Opportunities – a panel presentation on different aspects of disability management in the workplace including: WSIB, union, national perspective, and worker’s mental health vulnerability with Covid.

With this background, CDMPs/CRTWCs will be equipped to promote/access the funding available for worksites from the Federal Ministry of Employment, Workforce Development and Disability Inclusion, including funding for worksite assessments and continuing education.

Wolfgang Zimmermann (President of the Pacific Coast University for Workplace Health Sciences (PCU-WHS) and the Executive Director of the National Ins )

Wolfgang Zimmermann, OBC is the President of the Pacific Coast University for Workplace Health Sciences (PCU-WHS) and the Executive Director of the National Institute of Disability Management and Research (NIDMAR). Having a degree in civil and forest engineering, following an industrial accident in 1977, he was retrained and continued to work for his pre-disability employer until his retirement from that organization in 2010. He has received many awards and commendations for his work on disability prevention and rehabilitation including the Order of British Columbia.

Rodney Cook MIR, CRSP (Workplace Safety & Insurance Board Vice President @Workplace Health and Safety Services)

Rodney Cook is the Vice President of Workplace Health and Safety Services at the WSIB. He oversees all aspects of workplace health and safety programs. Rod also serves on multiple Board of Directors including National Institute of Disability Management and Research, and Excellence Canada. The WSIB received the Mental Health at Work Silver Level certification from Excellence Canada under Rod's leadership.

Sari Sairanen (National Health, Safety and Environment Director @Unifor)

Sari is responsible for protecting worker rights, promoting safe and sustainable work transformations while ensuring the health and safety of workers.
She has a passion for meeting people, learning their stories and building relationships in support of lasting, meaningful work adaptations for workers today and tomorrow.
Sari comes to the National union from the Airline division, which represents members from coast to coast to coast in Canada.

Craig Gosse, MD, FRCPC (Psychiatrist)

Craig Gosse, MD, FRCPC is a Psychiatrist and has an extensive background in the area of Occupational Mental Health. He completed his Residency in Psychiatry at the University of Toronto and is a graduate of the Harvard University Global Mental Health: Trauma and Recovery program. He has worked with various pharmaceutical companies, sat on their advisory boards and speakers bureaus, and been involved with pharmacological research projects.
